How StudyStair works

StudyStair turns what you want to learn into a staircase of short lessons, quick quizzes, and practice tests, and adjusts as you go.

  1. Step 1: Tell us what you're studying

A subject, an optional target exam, and anything about your goals.

  2. Step 2: Climb one step at a time

Levels, sections, and lessons ordered from fundamentals to advanced.

  3. Step 3: Prove it on a real-format exam

Quizzes, checkpoint tests, and a timed full-length simulation.

Common questions

What are levels, sections, and checkpoints?

Your plan is a staircase. Each level is a big step, made of sections; each section has a few lessons and ends with an 8-question quiz (pass with 6 of 8). A level ends with a checkpoint test. Pass it, or test out early if you already know the material, to unlock the next level.

What happens if I don't pass a quiz?

Nothing is lost: review the answers, revisit the lessons, and try again with new questions. If a skill keeps tripping you up, StudyStair writes a review lesson that explains it a different way, plus a short drill.

How do targeted review sessions work?

After a quiz or test where a few skills gave you trouble, you're offered a short session: a mini-lesson and three quick questions with instant feedback for each skill, then a short re-quiz. You'll see how your mastery moved. After a failed checkpoint or practice exam, finishing the session unlocks your retake.

When can I take the practice exam?

The full practice exam unlocks once you've passed every level's checkpoint (testing out counts). It follows the real exam's format and timing when your plan has a target test, and you can retake it with new questions.

Can I study in Spanish?

Yes. Switch the app between English and Español at any time, and choose the language your lessons are written in when you create a plan. If your exam is in English, you can study with explanations in Spanish and practice questions in English. You can also translate a plan later.

What do the progress themes show?

Themes change how your dashboard shows progress. Classic shows your staircase and next step; Climb the Stairs shows a climber moving up as you pass sections and finish lessons. Pick one with the Theme button on your dashboard.
